The research conducted at IRVI is rooted in recovering lost content not relegated to isolated countries histories. Our research architectures reimagines a non-linear wider lens, in a relevant post pandemic digital era.
We believe there is hybrid history between countries in the Sub-continent, Near-east, Africa, China, Central Asia and Russia, which have all played a role in each others cultural evolution. Our research ecosystem modules will be populated by fellows from these regions to come together and find the lost overlaps through trade, architecture, culinary arts, clothing, performing arts and language.
As research is an ongoing process, the IRVI research fellows reside on the IRVI campus or can share their rediscovered content over video calls if they are unable to travel.
Research at IRVI is conducted by history and anthropology retired or tenured professors from universities of the region in conjunction with PhD or graduate level students interested in these topics with a passion to deconstruct colonial history and write a new sensitive, relevant, appropriate narrative.
The relationship of ancient heritage architecture, its true custodians, the forgotten human heritage, their lives and the earth under their feet, is a foundation construct we follow at IRVI. Everything else stems from this basic principle.
A ‘’One Health” approach drives this research at IRVI; inclusive of environmental concerns, land use, climate change, the redefinition of ‘primitive’ to ‘primal’, reintroduction of ‘tribe’ vs ‘community’ and a very conscious response to mental health as an inherent piece of this new narrative in todays idiom, will guide all the ‘re-calibrated’ global research conducted at IRVI through our fellows, partners, collaborators, associates and stakeholders.
